Last Wednesday I took myself away from the office for a few hours to spend the afternoon with the master of beauty himself Napoleon Perdis. When the invite came through on my emails, I have to say I was rather excited as I had been watching and following his career over the years going all the way back to Ireland where I watched him on Australia's Next Top Model. For those of you who are not too familiar with Napoleon, here is a look back at his career to date.
Napoleon launched a small makeup studio in the Sydney suburb of Leichhardt in 1992 and from there he created a line of cosmetic products which he sold through his own concept store in the Sydney suburb of Paddington in 1995 and later through major department stores such as David Jones around Australia. By 2011, the brand operated 65 concept stores across Australia and New Zealand and sold its cosmetics from 4,500 locations. His business expanded to the United States a few years back starting with a collaboration with Target and now Perdis has a number of concept stores of his own and his products are now also stocked by the likes of Bergdorfs and Neiman Marcus.
Life.Style Melbourne will be home to exclusive Ready–to–Wear collections alongside the best in luxury accessories, jewellery and home furnishings as well as a carefully curated edit of internationally sourced vintage furniture, decorative items and art. This eclectic mix will sit alongside the Napoleon Perdis cosmetics offering and to follow, a Napoleon Perdis Life.Style signature collection of product.
As a leading player in cosmetics for over 17 years, Napoleon Perdis has now evolved into a retail force across categories and continents. With a well-established international business, a distinct creative aesthetic, and a long history of supporting emerging design talent, Napoleon Perdis is viewed by the Australian fashion and retail community as an authentic taste maker and an authority on international trends.
Brands exclusive to Napoleon Perdis Life.Style Melbourne include the Ready–to–Wear collections of Robert Rodriguez, Milly NY, Clover Canyon, Habitual Denim, Demy Lee and South Parade to name but a few. Accessories can be found from the likes of Thale Blanc, 111BeCa, Cecile et Jeanne, Clare Vivier, Gear3 by Saen and Banago and there is a huge collection of jewellery from the likes of Lucas Jack, NACH, Gina Stewart Cox, Defy Mafia, Jean Marie Poinot and JOOLS. However it was the home furnishings that really did it for me and I loved the IONIA Tablewear immensly.
After a talk through the concept of the store, Napoleon brought us all into a secret room which was filled with delicious afternoon tea treats such as finger sandwiches, biscuits, scones with cream and jam and macaroons. Leaving the launch the team handed out a lovely gift bags back filled with make-up and a luxury hand poured candle. I couldn't choose between the two scents I loved, Gardenia and Black Orchid so I picked up a second as a little treat to myself.
I would highly recommend that you take a trip to the store and while there maybe make a day of it by taking in a movie at the Como cinema which is one of my favourites within Melbourne.
Wintour&Guinness was a guest of Napoleon & Soula Marie Perdis. Huge thank you to Golightly PR also.
