When most fashion houses decided to develop a beauty line, they stay focused on the women's market, but Tom Ford, the brand plays by its own rules. The extremely talented designer, director etc. etc. is expanding his already successful beauty business into a luxury skin care brand for men.
"This is not Jean Paul Gaultier with men's makeup," John Demsey, group president of the Estée Lauder Cos., told WWD recently. "This is a serious, high-ticket men's grooming line with a couple of products with cosmetics benefits to be used in a very masculine way."
Ford is well on his way to building an global empire to match the likes of Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton and Ralph Lauren, what with a successful fashion resume including your a clothing line, a fragrance and cosmetics business and now with his skincare project on men, Ford is creating a whole new set of rules on how to build a brand.
