I lived through the whole Abercrombie & Fitch phase that swept through Ireland a few years back. I was in collage, highly impressionable and a bit of a sheep to be honest, but I have to say the clothing is very well made and lasts. That's alot more than I can say about some other expensive brands. Jack Wills is similar in its marketing approach. Its basically the same type of brand, aimed at the same type of people but J.W. comes out of the UK. Its a cool brand and I have picked up a few pieces over the last few years so I was interested to hear that Richard Nicoll has been hired as new creative director for the brand. The role is part-time, enabling him to continue with his eponymous line.
His collections have global appeal, but he is a British designer at heart and will lead the creative direction of our brand into its next important phase, said Wendy Becker, Jack Wills CEO.
His aesthetic and talent in designing for both men and women will be a great match for our future vision for Jack Wills and reinforces our commitment to having quality and design at our heart.
Jack Wills is known for its British preppy aesthetic, while Nicoll is renowned for his androgynous sharp tailoring and understated contemporary classics. This is one collaboration I am looking forward to seeing.
