Even though he has ten seasons under his belt, Prabal Gurung's never actually had a print advertising campaign for his brand. In a way he has been able to promote his business through great media coverage and even better word of mouth. You see, one only needs to think about the Target Collection, the Vogue Fashion Fund award and one mega-fan in the shape of Michelle Obama. But that hasn't stopped the brand from developing its first print campaign for Spring 2014.
Photographed by Dan Jackson, the imagery features model Liya Kebede posing in the label's latest Spring 2014 looks. Kebede wears a heavy tweed cocoon bomber jackets and strapless gowns in red and blue, accessorized with a silk head scarf and in each image Kebede is shown opposite a burning metal rose. That's some powerful imagery, but I am not exactly sure what its meant to symbolize. It's an undeniably striking and powerful first campaign that makes me look forward to see what more this superstar can do.
