I don't know about you but when I saw this news recently I got very excited. David Bowie (although not the man himself) will return down under in 2015 in the form of a touring exhibition, David Bowie Is, which will be making its way to the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne in July 2015.
The exhibition covers David Bowie‘s sensational career, from Ziggy Stardust to the likes of Jareth (the goblin king in the 1986 film Labyrinth) and was curated by London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. The V&A was given access to the David Bowie Archive to curate the first international retrospective of the extraordinary career of Bowie - one of the most pioneering and influential performers of modern times. David Bowie Is explores the creative processes of Bowie as a musical innovator and cultural icon, tracing his shifting style and sustained reinvention across five decades.
The Australian leg of the exhibition will also take a special look at Bowie’s time on Australian soil since his first tour down under in 1978. Interesting fact, Bowie famously shot the videos for two of his most beloved tracks “Let’s Dance” and “China Girl” in Australia in 1983.
David Bowie Is will be at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image from 16th July to 1st November, 2015. Tickets go on sale this November. For more information click here to get onto the ACMI website.
